24 Youths Arrested at Construction Site
On Saturday, a gathering of 24 youths, mostly 18- and 19-year olds, were arrested at approximately 10:30 a.m. for trespassing on a construction site at 201 John St.
A half dozen of the youths were under 17, with as many as five 15-year-olds. The group was spotted by a neighbor and parent of one in the group. He reported their presence to the police. Lt. Daniel Allen reported there was no alcohol and no drugs involved.
Nicolas K. Steinman, at age 20 was the oldest arrested.
The 19-year-olds arrested were Bethany M. Riegel, Winston Murdoch, Scott Lawson, Erika Butta-Ramirez, Robert W. Arnold, Stephen C. Dixon, Michael D. Yorke, Kenyon Ferguson, Natali P. Reyes and Andrew Lewis.
The 18-years-olds were Andrew Fisher, Cadwallader W. Kelsey IV, Christopher D. Nocek, Sabrina F. Tharani, Kimberly A. Ward and Kiki Ferguson.
The youths were assigned a May 19 answer date in Stamford Superior Court. They are liable for a $92 fine each.
Woman Arrested Following Dispute
Julie E. Plants, 41, of Jamaica, Vt., was arrested on May 2 at 5:44 p.m. for disorderly conduct and criminal mischief in the third degree.
Police were detailed
Plants was released on a $1,000 cash bond and appeared in Stamford Superior Court on May 5.
Man Charged With Risk of Injury to Minor
Jeffrey Robert Jay, 49, of 50 Fox Run Lane, was arrested on May 3 at 8:19 p.m. for risk of injury to a minor and for disorderly conduct.
Police were detailed to 2 Railroad Ave. on a report of an assault threat. An investigation revealed that Jay had gone to the movies with his wife and daughter and while there ran into his daughter's 15-year-old boyfriend.
Police said Jay became angry over the presence of the boyfriend at the movies and instigated a pushing match. He allegedly grabbed the juvenile, shoved him into a wall and began to shake him. To release Jay's grip, the juvenile struck him in the left eye, injuring Jay's eye.
Jay was charged for breach of peace in addition, released on a $500 cash bond and assigned to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 12.
Warrant Arrests
May 1: Jeovany A. Mejia, 24 of Stamford, was arrested at 10 a.m. for failure to appear in the second degree.
Mejia was transported by the Connecticut marshal from Bridgeport Correctional Center to Stamford Superior Court for his outstanding arrest warrant to be executed, and then returned the same day to Bridgeport.
The original charge was for disorderly conduct, for interfering with an officer on Aug. 1, 2006.
Road Arrests
May 1: Britta L. Barrett, 44, of Norwalk, was arrested at 3:15 a.m. for driving while intoxicated.
Police observed Barrett driving on Byram Road without any headlights. She was stopped on Frontage Road, and upon speaking her words were slurred, her eyes were watery, and she had the distinct odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and on her person. She subsequently failed field sobriety tests.
Barrett was charged in addition with operating an unregistered vehicle and for failing to illuminate her headlamps.
She was released on a $250 cash bond and assigned to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 15.
May 4: Darwin Joselito Cordova, 25, of Port Chester, N.Y. was arrested at 3:25 a.m. for driving while intoxicated.
Cordova's car was observed driving east on West Putnam Avenue swerving across the dotted white line, then across the solid double yellow line until the two left tires were in the westbound lane. He then swerved back into the correct eastbound lane.
Cordova was stopped in front of 116 East Putnam Ave. His car was found to have a strong odor of alcohol and he displayed red glassy eyes and slurred speech while interviewed, police reported.
Cordova failed field sobriety tests, was released on a $250 cash bond and assigned to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 19.
May 4: Cesar Marcelo Pertunsatti, 30, of Bridgeport, was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
Pertunsatti was observed running a red light at Mead Avenue and Mill Street. On stopping Pertunsatti, the odor of alcohol was found on his breath and person. He then failed field sobriety tests.
He was released on a $250 cash bond and assigned to appear in Stamford Superior Court on May 19.
