"Storybook Tree" ¥ Cedar ¥ Julian Curtiss School Go Green Afters Club led by teacher Deanna Novak
The JC Go Green Afters Club chose this tree because it has the best little pinecones and the softest bark and twisted branches. It towers over our school in a lie of trees we named the 'king's trees.' Just stand under one of them and you can imagine a cedar kingdom."

"Most Interesting Tree Branching" ¥ Norway Spruce ¥ Mark Lorenz, 10 and Eric Lorenz, 6.
"We like to climb this tree. It is the only tree we can climb up really high. The branches make it easy to climb but you have to watch out for the sap." Eric says he used to only watch his older brother Mark climb the tree. He says now that he's 6, he can climb too." It's a neighborhood tree so sometimes we meet friends climbing it too. Once we saw some teenagers way at the top. Once we saw a boy with climbing equipment, ropes, a harness, clamps. He broke a branch. Once a group of Mark's classmates joined us and we could see who was good at climbing trees. We put our cat (who's on a leash) in the tree when dogs are near. We ride our bikes or scooters to the tree after school and on the weekends. We love this tree!"

"Most Gnarly Tree" ¥ Oak ¥ Leslie Yager
"I admire this gnarly tree that appears to squeeze through the sidewalk cutout. At first glance it looks like a million tiny soap suds bubbles under a microscope. From another angle, it looks like an enormous craggy elephant foot."
