The big boats were riding high on the surge of Tropical Storm Irene at the docks of Greenwich Delamar Harbor. Greenwich boatman Ian MacMillan was there at high tide on Sunday morning to capture the waters moving toward (but thankfully not into) the Delamar Hotel.
Harbormaster, Jonathan Ashe reported good news after the storm -- that there were no boat losses and only minor casualties in the storm. "All the boaters did an excellent job preparing their boats for the storm," Ashe said.
That was in no small part due to Ashe's actions. He had sent out a blast email on Friday asking all boat owners to immediately prepare their boats for the storm and "not to wait until the last minute."
MacMillan, meanwhile, reported that one small boat got swamped in Old Greenwich, and that another boat, the Crow's Nest, came off its moorings and came ashore -- without damage.
