He was a lifetime area resident and a graduate of Henry Abbott Technical School in Danbury. He served in the U. S. Army with the 97th Engineer Battalion during the Korean War.
Following the war, Mr. Billings returned to Danbury and founded Billings Electric, Inc., an electrical contracting firm which he ran until illness forced his retirement.
He was active in local sports, and Billings Electric sponsored baseball, basketball and touch football teams in the local sporting leagues. He was also an avid fisherman.
Besides his wife, Mr. Billings is survived by a son, Robert of Danbury; a daughter, Tanya of Madrid, Spain; a granddaughter, Amber of Danbury; two brothers, Paul of Danbury and Donald of New Milford; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister, Louise Zietler.
