He attended schools in Watertown and graduated from The Forman School in Litchfield. He attended New England College in Henniker, N.H.
Mr. Getsinger worked as a mechanical designer and consultant with various manufacturing companies around the state. He had been employed at Duracell Corporation in Bethel since 1995.
He was founder and lead guitarist of two blues bands, Pride and Joy and the Steady Rollers. He played at venues and events throughout the area. He was an avid runner and ran in numerous marathons and races.
Besides his wife and mother, Mr. Getsinger is survived by a son, Brett and his wife Caryn; two grandchildren, Katy and Ryan; four sisters, Gretchen of Litchfield, Banjie of Washington, Barbara of Watertown and Ann of New Marlboro, Mass.
A memorial service will be held at the Mattatuck Unitarian Universalist Society Church, 122 South Pomperaug Road, Woodbury, April 23 at 11 a.m.
The Woodbury Funeral Home of Munson-Lovetere is in charge of arrangements.
