The 2012 YWCA Spirit of Greenwich Awards recognized 10 outstanding women volunteers on Sept. 12 at the Greenwich Country Club before an overflow crowd that included families and dignitaries.
"We honor these women who have enriched the lives of many in our community for their vision, devotion, accomplishments and in-depth service over a period of years," said Adrianne Singer, YWCA President and CEO.
"Each year going forward, our honorees seem to increase their commitments and assistance to others. I am so proud of them," she added.
This year's honorees were Kathy Barba, Patricia Burns, Suzanne Frank, Elizabeth Ellen Champlin, Robbie Kestnbaum, Rachel K. McAree, Sally S. Michler, Barbara Netter, Nancy Margolis Risman and Alease Fisher Tallman.
Their volunteerism included such varied organizations as Pathways, the United Way, YWCA Greenwich, the Audubon Society, Autism Speaks, Greenwich Adult Day Care, American Red Cross, HeartCare International, the Alliance for Cancer Gene Therapy, Global Camps Africa, the Red Ribbon Foundation and the Bruce Museum.
Proceeds benefit YWCA Greenwich Domestic Abuse Services and scholarships for Aquatic, Preschool, After School and Summer Camp programs.
