The Greenwich YMCA Marlins finished the short course season in style, making a big splash at a recent meet at Wesleyan University in Middletown. The team swam away with 14 first place wins and broke two Connecticut State records in the process.
Among the big winners was Alex Kosyakov, 10, who placed first in the boys 500 free, 200 free, 50 breast and 100 breast. Kosyakov also teamed with Marcus Hodgson, Andrew Berzolla and Nicholas Todorovic to take first in the 10 and under boys 400 IM Relay, 200 IM Relay and the 400 freestyle relay.
Alex Jahan placed first in the 13-14 boys 100 breast and the 200 breast and joined Oscar Ike, Nick Handali and Guido Balderrama to take first in the 400 freestyle relay. That foursome went on to break both the Connecticut State Record and residence record in the 800 freestyle relay, with a time of 7:27:42.
Thomas Dunstan joined Jahan, Balderrama and Ike to place first in the 13-14 boys 200 IM Relay. Then the boys continued on to break the Connecticut State Record in the 13-14 Boy's 400 IM relay, with a time of 3:50:12.
