Thursdays: Youth basketball clinics
The program for children in kindergarten will run from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Children in first and second grades will meet from 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., and third and fourth graders meet from 5:15 to 6 p.m. The cost for the program is $100.
Coach John Czarnecki, who is certified by the state of Connecticut and has coached for more than 20 years, will teach this junior basketball class.
In-person registration at the Civic Center begins on Monday, Jan. 14.
Sundays: Indoor field hockey
The Department of Parks and Recreation will hold registration for Indoor Field Hockey Clinics at the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center. These specialized clinics will meet on five consecutive Sundays, starting Jan. 27.
The Session I class is for girls 8 to 9 years old, and the program will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Session 2 will run from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for children 10 to 12 years old. The program will help children develop skills in stick work, passing, receiving, shooting and basic offensive and defensive skills.
Emily Prince, who played at Princeton and was a three-time All American college player, will be directing and coaching the girls.
Tennis For Tots Mondays in gym
Tennis for Tots will begin indoors at the Bendheim Western Greenwich Civic Center Gym on Mondays, starting Jan. 28, for six weeks. The program for children 3 and 4 years old will run from 2:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., or 3:15 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. The 5-, 6- and 7-year-olds program will be held from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., or 4:30 p.m. to 5:15 p.m., or 5:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. The cost is $85 for the 3 and 4 year olds, and $95 for the 5 to 7 year olds.
Pat Cianciulli, the director of the Town's Tennis Program for five years, will teach the program. Tennis rackets will be provided. In-person registration at the Civic Center begins on Monday, Jan. 14.
