The Savings Bank of Danbury has appointed Danbury resident Robert Kornhaas, Jr. to its board of directors. a partner in the accounting firm Fiorita, Kornhaas & Co., Certified Public Accountants, he brings with him 33 years of professional experience working with clients throughout Connecticut, many closely held businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Kornhaas received his bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut, and is a member of the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Savings Bank of Danbury is a mutual savings bank with assets in excess of $750 million and 13 branch offices.
Greenwich resident Nadia Dombrowski, senior vice president and group head for MasterCard Worldwide, was named to InsideCounsel Magazine's list of top female attorneys who have demonstrated a commitment to advancing the empowerment of women in corporate law. She and other honorees will be feted at the second annual Transformative Leadership Awards, scheduled for May 24 in Chicago, in conjunction with InsideCounsel's 11th Annual SuperConference, honoring women in-house counsel and law firm partners. Dombrowski will receive the Pamela L. Carter Award.
Westport-based Maplewood Communities, a provider of assisted living services and memory care services in Fairfield County, has named Thomas Gaston executive vice president of development and acquisitions. Gaston brings 16 years of senior housing experience and 25 years in real estate. Before joining Maplewood, he was vice president at Benchmark Assisted Living in Wellesley, Mass. As a senior member of the Investments Group, he oversaw development and acquisition of new projects. Before that, Gaston was a partner of Northbridge Assisted Living in Burlington, Mass. He started in senior housing in 1995, when he was hired by Leggat McCall Retirement Properties in Boston to direct the development of 11 new senior housing communities.
Karen Crouse, Ph.D, a registered nurse and chairwoman of the Nursing Department at Western Connecticut State University, received the Connecticut Nurses' Association Diamond Jubilee Vera Keane Awar, given for outstanding service to the association and service in promoting the positive, professional image of nursing.
